Fountain Design Service

Every Aqualume project starts as a design, not a shipment. The design service turns your site and your ambitions into a simulated, engineered, costable fountain — before any equipment is manufactured.

  • Project review
  • 3D simulation
  • Hydraulic & electrical design

Start a design review

On this pageDesign is where fountains are actually decided: geometry, zones and program — the equipment list is the output, not the input.

Fountain Design: the Stage That Decides the Show

Send a site and a wish — 'a musical fountain for this plaza', 'a show on our lake' — and the design service returns something you can judge: a concept developed in 3D simulation, an equipment layout, and the hydraulic and electrical design that makes the simulated show physically real. The service exists because the expensive mistakes in fountains are all design mistakes: zones in the wrong place, features scaled for the wrong audience distance, plant that cannot serve the program. Each is cheap to fix on screen and ruinous to fix in concrete.

  1. Project review

Your site, water, audience geometry and program ambitions are reviewed first. The review names the format honestly — including when a simpler format serves the site better.

  2. Concept & 3D simulation

The show is modelled in 3D: jet heights, effect zones, lighting and feature moments, judged from the real viewpoints your audience will use.

  3. Equipment layout

Nozzles, motion units, lights, pumps and control are laid out against the simulated show, zone by zone.

  4. Hydraulic & electrical design

Pump duty, pipe runs, cabinets and circuits are engineered as one package, ready for manufacture and for your civil-works team.

What to Send, and What You Get Back

The review starts from whatever you have: full architectural drawings, a survey, or photographs and dimensions paced out on site. More is better — underground services, power and drainage positions, water depth and level behaviour, the events calendar and the audience plan all change real decisions — but the first review is deliberately possible from a modest pack, because its job is to tell you what else is worth measuring.

What comes back is a design you can take three ways: into manufacture as an Aqualume project, into discussion with your own project team, or back for revision — formats change at this stage for the price of an email, which is the point. Buyers comparing suppliers should ask each for this stage by name; a supplier who quotes equipment before design is asking you to carry the design risk yourself.

What the Review Refuses to Do

A professional review also has refusals, and they are part of the service. It refuses to scale a show beyond its audience's sightlines to win a size comparison. It refuses to specify effects the site's wind will delete nightly. It refuses to pass a format whose off-state the site cannot live with. And it refuses, above all, to price a fountain that has not been designed — because a price without a design is a promise about a different, imaginary project.

These refusals occasionally lose a comparison against a more obliging brochure. They win the comparison that matters, which takes place on the site, at night, in the second year. Design is the stage where that victory is arranged, cheaply and on paper.

Design Service Questions

Does the design service commit us to buying the fountain?

The design stage produces the engineered concept your decision needs. Project scope after design — manufacture, installation, commissioning — is agreed as its own scope, and equipment-only supply remains an option.

How are project figures like jet heights decided?

From the audience geometry in simulation, not from a catalogue. Any figure in your design documents comes from your project's own engineering, stated as such.

Can you design for our local contractor to build?

Yes — design, equipment supply and commissioning support can be scoped around local civil and installation teams. Say so in the first message so the design pack is written for that split.
